About the Artist Georgette O'Neal:Artist G O'Neal.jpg

The first thing I would say about myself is that I have been around for quite a while.  So I lay claim to a lot of wisdom (I wish) and feel licensed to offer lots of free guidance for anybody that will listen.  I was born and raised in Liege, Belgium, a very large sprawling city with three rivers that run thru it. It lies right at the foot of the beautiful Ardennes Mountains. Some of the best days of my life were spent there.

I remember going to pick blueberries, mushrooms and hazelnuts with my mother and sisters and brother, and drinking natural sparkling waters out of the mountains brooks. To think that now I have to buy the stuff, bottled, expensive and with none of those wonder mountains smell!  I also have enough ugly, dark memories of war, and bombs and German occupation to write a book.  I think what I kept from the experience is that I am a survivor and can cope with most anything that life has to hand me, heal my wounds and go on.

My ex-husband was a GI, stationed in Liege, we met and later married and moved to South Dakota.  I raised four boys, went back to college and earned a BS in education, art and a Master's in administration and taught for 25 years!  I retired about 6 years ago, and I am still very busy with family, friends and my pursuit of a perfect painting.... I also have three dogs and two cats.  I could not live without them!  I learned to love everything that South Dakota has to offer, but still get very home sick for Belgium.

I've loved to draw and paint as far back as I can remember. I've worked in oils and pastels, have sold paintings in the United States. I started photo and digital painting several years ago and continue to find it fresh and exciting. My subjects  (some show cased with in this website,) include people and places where I've traveled, scenes from Europe ,where I was born and raised along with some nostalgic country scenes around my South Dakota neighborhood.

Info: Original limited editions digital paintings, printed on acid free watercolor and canvas paper. Sizes 8x11 with 11x14 double matting.
